MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching-Virtual Private Networks)
Private network, multi-point connection, real time information

A virtual private network which operates by generating secure channels within a shared network which connect to your WAN (Wide Area Network), maintaining the privacy and security of your organization’s communications and data.

MPLS is suitable for organizations which have branches in different regions and wish to connect them together in the most cost-effective way. The traffic engineering system within MLPS VPN also helps to manage the information and easily extend users or services in the future.

MPLS exploits the advantages of IP (Internet Protocol) which are its extensibility, scalability and low cost compared with leased line communications, together with the benefits of Frame Relay which offers stability and improved information management (Quality of Service).

MPLS has 2 modes of service:

    MPLS VLL

- for connecting from one branch to another

    MPLS VPN

- for connection of many branches together, whereby each branch will either connect to the headquarters or directly connect to other branches

MPLS VLL/VPN is thereby
  • As secured as Leased Line / Frame Relay
  • As reliable as Leased Line / Frame Relay
  • As CoS/QoS as Leased Line / Frame Relay

- Simplicity Offer simple design network solution to customer

- Capability Core network can support large bandwidth

- Scalability Easier to scale if there new site is added to the network

- Extensibility Can connect to other provider for larger VPN

- Maintainability Simple design, simple infrastructure offer easier maintenance

- Flexibility  Very flexible if site need to change topology or routing design

- Mobility Mobile employee can access to all site with single administration

- Security As secure as Frame Relay and ATM

- Reliability Carrier class can offer more reliability to customer

- Popularity Telecom operators start migrating their networks towards MPLS
